I love spraypaint. It goes on quick, it dries fast and it gets all those tough spots that would be a nightmare with a brush.
When it comes to quality there's several brands I use: Valspar, Rustoleum and Krylon. When it comes to unique color Krylon is the way to go. The only problem is, I can never find some of the colors that I know exist.
In particular, I've been searching high and low for a lovely little color called Coral Isle. Be still my beating heart:
I scoured hardware stores, paint stores, craft stores, even Walmart. No dice. So I looked online at overpriced cans with atrocious shipping fees....even Amazon came to 15 bucks a can! No, thank you!
Then I stumbled across a tip over at Vintage Revivals and turns out Krylon is owned by Sherwin Williams. So all I had to do was go and special order it through the store.
They came to 4.95 each plus no shipping fees as long as I picked them up in the store.
There was a minimum order, but I'm pretty sure I'll use up all six eventually....especially since I'm already down to five after one day.

Garage Sales: Seeing the Potential
The past few weekends I have acquired some project pieces.
First there was this little end table for $2:
This table will eventually be transformed into some sort of Lego table, like this one from Meet the Dubiens:
I also picked up this $5 table and will eventually paint it to match my living room color scheme (once I figure out what that is):
And here we have a huge bag of frames for $5. A great deal since frames at Goodwill are 1-2 dollars each.
These guys will be transformed into a gallery wall similar to one of my previous projects:
Also good for chalkboard frames too!
This heavy duty bench was $20. I was just about to offer $15 when another woman piped up and said she'd take it if I didn't want it! Boo! Oh well, it was worth it. It's going to get a coat of paint too :)
Then there's this milk glass collection which needs no touch up at all because it's gorgeous and only put me out a total of $4!!
On our way home yesterday I couldn't resist following the signs for one more garage sale and was disappointed when they had already closed up shop, but THEN I turned the corner and on the side of the road found these for FREE:
Ben accused me of stealing some random kid's toys that they left out, but there was a free sign! Lol!
So what if they are a little sun faded? Check out this awesome spray paint makeover from Sweet C's Designs:

Pocket Change Findings
While garage saling, The Wombat and I scored this HUGE Mega Bloks Truck for ONE DOLLAR:
And we also found these amazing vintage suitecases! I about peed my pants when the lady quoted me a dollar each for them! I so have big plans for these!!
Then we headed over to Bath & Body Works so I could pick up some small dollar items to send to my little sister. She is working at a summer camp with no cell reception and sketchy internet so she looooves snail mail. We are always on the lookout for little things to stick in packages. Landon was content in the stoller so after hitting B&BW we wandered over to Pier One. I was pleasantly surprised to find some glow in the dark rubber band bracelets (apparently these are all the rage at camp) on sale for .36 and a sassy little "Paper Pickup" for .96.
Our perfect Saturday morning always includes a good deal and a trip to the park :)

Upcycled Bottles
While browsing Pinterest, I came across some super cute painted vases and knew it was a Pin I was going to put to good use! Instead of vases, I just used recycled bottles.
I also got some Valspar paint for a dollar and set to work, pouring the paint in the bottles and slowly turning until it was completely covered. Then I dumped the paint out and had some lovely vases!
However, the next day the Valspar painted vases looked like this:
Bummer. I tried to salvage them but they were beyond repair and causing more headache than they were worth so they wound up being tossed out. Instead, I used the Valspar paint on mason jars and they turned out great! Not sure if it was the texture of the bottle or the lack of air needed to dry or...who knows?
Will definitely be using the technique more to pretty up some vases :)

After struggling with the first bottle to remove the stickiness from the label, I realized it was going to be harder than I thought. I whined asked my husband nicely to lend me a hand and he soaked them in a solution of water and Simple Green. After about an hour of soaking it came right off! Yay!
So then I headed to Home Depot to pick up some Oops Paint and I found some Behr paint samples for .50 each. Score!

Garage Sales, Ect.
These past couple weeks of garage saling were not as sucessful as our jackpot find but we still picked up a couple items for some sweet deals:
Little Tikes Swing: $5
Gap Yellow Raincoat: 50 cents.
Little Tikes Fire Truck: 25 Cents! I offered a dollar and she took one look at Landon and said "Oh, for him? How about a quarter?" Ha! That is the first time anyone has every counter offered less :)
Yoda Costume $1....I stuck this in the wash the minute I got home, couldn't wait to see him in it!!
Fisher Price Little People Sound Barn: $1
Fisher Price Little People Discovery Airport: $1
Fisher Price Little People Barn: $1
Mego Bloks Trucks .50 cents each.
And we hosted our own garage sale this weekend! It wore these two kids out:
Proceeds are going to help pay for my garage sale addiction and we also wanted to clear out some junk before we MOVE. Yep, the bank accepted out offer and we are having home inspections done this week. Fingers crossed.

Packing & Wedding Day Emergency Kit
Tonight I am packing for my sister's wedding on SATURDAY! Holy crap that went by quickly! Well for me it did, I'm sure it didn't fly by for the bride and groom :) I remember thinking my 10 month engagement felt more like 10 years.
Anyways, Landon gets to be a little ring bearer so I'm praying he actually walks down the aisle without stopping to pick up some rocks or socialize with guests. His little outfit is SO cute! Also, I'm super stoked about my new dress for the rehearsal dinner from Banana Republic. I love, love, LOVE their outlet sales!!!!
And I made a little Wedding Day Emergency Kit for my sis including the following:
Mini first aid kit
Tissues
Instant stain remover
Deodorant
Ibuprofen
Altoid mints
Make up remover
Bounce lint remover
Tums
Snack (I found these little chocolate filled pandas that we used to eat when we were little...except I think the ones we used to eat were koalas, hmmm)
I think I got the basics covered! Time to let the festivities begin!

Bath & Body Savings
Most days being a play at home mom to my nine month old is a dream We have so much fun hanging out with each other, going to the park, having play dates, taking walks with The Puppy. Other days are not so fun, when his little teeth are coming through, when nap time only lasts 15 minutes, or when I haven't had an ADULT to converse with for a while and start to go a little crazy. Those days, there's nothing that rejuvenates me more than a long, hot, QUIET bubble bath.
And so I love Bath & Body Works.
I do NOT love their obscene prices.
However, twice a year, in January and in June, they have amazing sales with up to 75% off. Did you know that every other receipt prints out a survey that gets you $10 off a $30 purchase? Want to know the best part? IT. DOESN'T. EXPIRE. You can hang on to your receipt for a year and they will still honor the coupon (in store only).
So twice a year I head on over to Bath & Body and fill up my bag with exactly enough sale items to equal around $30 before tax. I use these items for myself, gifts, shower game prizes, or as fun stuff to send to my sisters while they work at Hume Lake for the summer.
This time around I got 14 items for a grand total of $22.07. Do I care if my bubble bath or soap is from the Christmas line? Nope. I only care that it cost me about a dollar or two. The most expensive items were the body wash for $2.15. The cheapest were the hand soaps at .94. I am sort of in love with the Christmas tea light holders ($1.63) and may have to go back for more to pack away for next year :)
Now I'll just tuck away my reciept until June.
